The main entrance to the church is located on La Salle Drive. The church can also be accessed by an ADA ramp through the garden. Please ask an usher for assistance if necessary.
About Church of the Ascension
Welcome to the Church of the Ascension, a diverse and vibrant Episcopal parish located in Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood. Part of the world-wide Anglican Communion, we are rooted in the Anglo-Catholic tradition. Wherever you are in your faith journey, Ascension is here for you–a place to pray, deepen your faith, find community, and worship God.

Worship is at the heart of the Church of the Ascension and there are many in-person and online opportunities for you to participate. On Sundays, there is a Sung Mass at 9 a.m. and Solemn High Mass at 11 a.m. which is also streamed live on Facebook and YouTube. Monday through Friday, there is a daily Low Mass and Morning and Evening Prayer (the Daily Office) is offered on Zoom. Special services are also offered on Holy Days.
Preparing for Your Visit
We want you to feel comfortable, curious, and inspired when you visit the Church of the Ascension. For principal services, printed bulletins containing the order of the service, prayers, responses, and musical offerings will be given to you as you enter the church. The most important thing for you to do at Ascension is pray. Please don’t hesitate to ask questions. We look forward to welcoming you and getting to know you.
What to Wear
There is no dress code and we want you to feel comfortable. The church is air-conditioned and heated.
Getting here
We are located at 1133 N. La Salle Drive at the corner of Elm Street, one block south of Division Street and three blocks north of Chicago Avenue.
By Car
Free Parking is available on Sundays until 1:30 p.m. and for other special services. The lot is located at the corner of Maple and La Salle. The entrance is on Maple: 1101 N La Salle Drive.
By Public Transit
Public transit options include the Clark & Division Redline Stop (one block north) or these nearby bus routes: 22 Clark, 36 Broadway, 70 Division, 66 Chicago, and 156 LaSalle (weekdays only).
